Transcultural workshop “Traces de la colonisation japonaise” in Pusan (South Korea).
Starting from Nate Kornegay’s work, consisted of a huge amount of photographs of houses and buildings erected during Japanese's occupation, nowadays inhabited by Korean, we wanted to underline the way Present can re-appropriate Past. By going back on the exact locations were these photographs have taken, we had in mind to meet the people living there.
Throughout the experience, two types of navigation are possible: disordered navigation and guided navigation that allows users to follow our journey in a linear way.
As a starting point, we inspired by the idea of linking steps to a map from the interactive map made by former master's students.
We created our interactive map with the ArcGIS Online tool in order to respect basic principles of webdocumentary (immersion, non-linear content and freedom of navigation.). All of our locations are displayed from the start and identified by an icon. The map is on the left side of the screen, while on the right side there are contents.
